Unión Magdalena vs Deportivo Cali

Unión Magdalena returned to winning ways in their final match after three consecutive matches without a victory. The team thus entered the top eight of the tournament, a position that qualifies them for the final phase.

Deportivo Cali are moving further and further away from the possibility of qualifying for the finals. However, the team is currently four points off these places with eight matches to play.

Union Magdalena's results in the current Colombian Clausura have been fairly consistent. In 13 matches, the team has recorded just three defeats and six draws, which means they are not too far behind in the standings.

The last match, against Pereira, ended in a 2-1 victory thanks to a 95th-minute goal from Gustavo Torres. The team has thus qualified for the final, a stage they will reach for the first time if they stay at this level.

In a new season, Deportivo Cali once again seems far from qualifying for the finals. After twelve matchdays, the champions of the final tournament of 2021 have collected only 14 points out of a possible 36.

They have only one win in their last five games and only two wins in their last 12 games, having also been eliminated from the Colombian Cup competition.

In the last match played, they managed to earn a draw against Independiente de Medellín (2-2), in a game in which, despite having an extra player, they failed to capitalize for much of the second half and even missed a penalty that would have meant victory.

Playing away from home was not very advantageous for Deportivo Cali, as they managed to win only once in six games, while conceding the most away goals, with only three scored.
