Zalgiris vs Galatasaray

Zalgiris exited the round of 16 of the qualifying round after a difficult game against Struga. Afterwards, the team maintained its positive performance in the local tournament and managed to secure a victory.

Galatasaray have not played any official matches since the end of the domestic tournament over a month ago, but have played a few friendlies in the meantime to keep up the momentum.

After being crowned Lithuanian champions, Zalgiris managed to keep their chances alive in the Champions League qualifying round. The team managed to get a big lead over the second-placed team, reaching 21 points, while showing great offensive and defensive skills.

Currently, the team is on the verge of repeating the championship title, as after 23 games played, they are back in first place in the standings, with a total of 16 wins in this period and an average of almost two goals per game, despite having played two more games than the team in second place.

In an interesting and more balanced Round of 16 series, Zalgiris managed to beat Macedonian side Struga 1-2, with the goals coming in the second game, where they were trailing by a goal before recovering in the second half.

After an eventful tournament in the Turkish top flight, Galatasaray managed to win the championship, beating a Fenerbahçe team that had been on top form for much of the season.

After 36 games, the team had won 28 and lost four, scoring an average of more than two goals per game, while the defensive record was quite good, with an average of less than one goal conceded.

As champions of a league better ranked by FIFA than all the leagues that sent their participants to the knockout stages of the Champions League qualifiers, Galatasaray managed to reach the quarterfinals, although in preparation they played a total of four friendlies, winning only one game.
