Boca Juniors vs Newells

Boca Juniors have failed to retain the title they won last season, while their performances have not been entirely positive in the first half of the year.

Newells have struggled to win in recent games, which has pushed them away from the top spots they occupied for most of the season.

Boca Juniors' season didn't start in the best way, and it was this situation that sealed their fate at the end of the season. However, the Xeneize team has managed some good results in the last few games and is among the qualifiers for the next Copa Sudamericana.

They are undefeated in their last four games and have won three of them this season, including the last one against Gimnasia de la Plata with a 1-3 result, in a game where Lobos had 19 shots against only eight from Boca Juniors, but it was the Xeneizes who had more certainties in front of goal.

At home, the Xeneizes have been the better performing team, with seven wins in 13 games, only three defeats and a good defensive record, averaging less than one goal conceded per game.

Despite being mid-table, Newells' recent results have been positive, with only one defeat in their last eight games, but also five draws.

The most recent was against Atlético de Tucumán, 0-0, in a game where both teams had chances to score but could not get more than three goals.

Away from home, however, the situation is changing rapidly, with only two wins in 13 games and a success rate of less than one goal per game.
